Meet Us - The Community

Coopertown Community Church is a Southern Baptist Church in cooperation with other SBC churches in the Robertson County Baptist Association and Tennessee Baptist Convention.

We believe in the one God of Israel, who eternally exists in three persons. These three persons are: God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They exist in a single undivided nature, possessing all of the divine attributes as revealed in the Bible (refer to next section on the Bible).

We believe Jesus Christ was the only-begotten Son of the Father who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He was both fully God and fully man in one person. He lived a perfect life without sin. He was put to death by crucifixion. On the third day following His crucifixion, God raised Jesus Christ’s body, which had been nailed to the cross, from the dead. After showing Himself alive to His disciples, Jesus ascended into heaven to be head over all things, including the Church.

We believe that all mankind was created in the image of God to bring Him glory. When the first Adam sinned by choice, the whole human race incurred his sin. This sin brought the consequence of physical death. Each of us is born with a sin nature and is thus separated from the Holy God; therefore possessing the need for salvation. Men are justified on the simple and single ground of the shed blood of Jesus Christ.Being regenerated by the work of the Holy Spirit, repenting of their sin, and exercising faith in Jesus Christ, men receive salvation. As a result of salvation, upon physical death, the regenerated spirit departs to be with Christ in conscious blessedness. At the second coming of Christ, the earthly body shall be raised and transformed into the likeness of the glorious body of Jesus Christ. We believe in a literal heaven and hell as described in the Bible. Heaven is prepared for those who have been regenerated. Hell is a place prepared for Satan, his demons, and for those who have rejected the free pardon of sin found in Jesus Christ.

We believe the Holy Spirit is a person distinct from God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son, yet possesses all of the divine attributes. He is God. The Holy Spirit indwells the Christian eternally upon regeneration, enabling them to live a godly life and to perform good works that are the necessary evidence of their genuine faith in Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit empowers the Christian to use spiritual gifts for the edification of the church, the obedience to the Great Commandment, and the fulfillment of the Great Commission. These spiritual gifts are given upon regeneration and are o utlined in the New Testament. These gifts have not ceased, and the Bible gives explicit instructions for their use. We do not believe in or endorse a “second blessing” or “baptism of the Holy Spirit” evidenced by any spiritual manifestation of any gift, such as tongues. Worship service will be exercised decently and in order as outlined in the New Testament and discerned by the Pastor and Elders.

We believe the Church consists of the host of the regenerate, wherever they may be found. It is the body and bride of Christ whom He loves and gave himself for. We will practice biblical Church discipline. We will follow Christ’s example of baptism by immersion as a public profession of one’s regeneration. We believe in the practice of the Lord’s Supper as a remembrance of Christ’s shed blood and broken body. This celebration is open to all professing Christians.

We believe that Jesus Christ will return in His resurrected body to claim all those who have been regenerated. We also believe that He will establish a millennial kingdom. However, we will not elevate any distinct view of the end time and order of events, realizing that no man knows the day nor the hour of Christ’s return.
